Welcome
Department of Accounting
Since its inception in 1959, the ATU accounting program has been a strong
and vibrant course of study with many students successfully completing
their bachelor’s degree and many their CPA certification. These
students take the skills and confidence they have acquired in our accounting
program and use them to enter and succeed in the business world. An accounting
degree offers a variety of employment careers. Examples of successful
positions held by TECH accounting graduates include the following:
• Financial institutions President, Chief Financial Officers and
Internal Auditors
•
Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of publicly traded companies
•
Tax attorneys
•
Partners in national, regional, and local CPA firms
•
Military Officers
•
Legislative and governmental auditors and financial executives
•
University professors and Vice Presidents
•
Small business men and women
•
And many others…
As graduates of one of the strongest accounting programs in the state,
ATU accounting alumni boast a high pass rate on the CPA and other professional
exams. We are proud of the increasing demand for our graduates and the
excellent competitive salaries they receive in the job market.
Accounting majors are encouraged to participate in campus and community
activities as part of their overall professional development. The Accounting
Department sponsors the Accounting Club for current students. Sophomore,
and junior accounting majors compete for excellent scholarships, which
are funded by friends, employers and alumni.
All of the accounting faculty have earned advanced degrees and are Certified
Public Accountants. They have work experience in public and private accounting
as well as their academic work. Each member of the faculty invites you
to visit them if you have questions regarding your future career plans
and a profession in accounting. All faculty offices are located on the
second floor of the Corley Building in the School of Business area.
